Hopes for new round of JCPOA talks

Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has written on his Twitter account that negotiations on revival of the 2015 nuclear deal will be resumed on November 29.

Bagheri Kani twitted that following his phone call with Enrique Mora, Chief of Staff of Josep Borrell, High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union, both sides agreed upon resumption of nuclear talks from November 29 to continue nuclear negotiations in Vienna, Austria.
Representatives from China, Russia, France, Britain and Germany will meet with Iranian negotiating team in Vienna to resume talks on revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The Islamic Republic will pursue the issue of lifting cruel sanctions on the Iranian nations. The new round of talks is the continuation of six rounds of negotiations, which have been on hold since Iranian presidential election in June.
Ahead of setting a time for the resumption of talks, the Iranian deputy FM held talks with the European official in Brussels and Tehran in order to find out whether the signatories to the JCPOA are ready to comply with their commitments under the deal and call on the US as the violator the agreement to stop its destructive policies.
The new round of talks is an extension of previous rounds of negotiations, but it is significant in the eyes of observers, because this round of meetings is going to be held for the first time in Iran’s new administration. Other parties are well aware that the Iranian administration insists on a result-oriented negotiation.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has repeatedly declared that Tehran will not hold negotiation for the sake of negotiation, but the Iranians want to see lifting of all anti-Iran sanctions. However, the Islamic Republic will pursue the strategies of lifting of sanctions and neutralizing the embargo simultaneously.
Iranian authorities have underlined the need for removal of all sanctions and assurances by the US that the White House will not withdraw from the JCPOA in the future.
The Raisi administration has accomplished assessment of previous rounds of talks for reviving the nuclear deal and it is prepared to take part in Vienna talks.
The European side is expected to adopt new decisions and show that they are determined to turn the next round of negotiation into a fruitful and result-oriented one.
